The Davis Dash is this Wednesday! We will be having all of our incentives that we have aearned from the dash on this day as well - extra recess, pj day, movie and popcorn, and games.
Report Cards will be going home Friday. Highlights for class this week: Reading/ELA: We will begin a new novel study this week using the book One Well. We will discuss the importance of water through this book. This will be a great tie-in for our pollution unit in science. This week we will be having a spelling week - test will be Friday. We will work a little bit more on compare and contrast this week. We will practice typing our responses on the computer in preparation for the GA Milestones. Writing: We will begin working on paragraphs of the week for the next two weeks. These will be little stories to help us reinforce all the different skills we have learned throughout the year. After spring break we will tackle another long story. Math: We will be focusing on time this week. We will need to tell time to the nearest minute and learn how to figure out elapsed time. Science: We will begin talking about recycling and pollution. Remember, we have a field trip to the Wright Environmental Center next Tuesday.

Read Across America will continue this week. Students can send in coupons for every 40 minutes they read. If they turn them into the library they will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
Tuesday, March 5th – dress up as your favorite character Friday, March 8th - wear your favorite pjs Highlights for class this week: Reading/ELA: We finished reading Peter Pan last week. We will continue to work with the book to increase our knowledge of verbs, quotations, and increasing our writing skills. We are on a spelling week, please study the words that were sent home Friday throughout the week. We will continue our unit on subordinating and coordinating conjunctions - expect there to be some on this weeks spelling test. We will dive into learning about point of view and comma rules. Writing: Students will begin a brand new Peter Pan narrative writing. We will review all the narrative writing skills we looked at in the beginning of the year. Students will also learn how to expand their opinion writings. Math: Last we we spent some time learning about line plots. This week we will continue our topic of measuring to the half and quarter inch. If you can help students measure items at home, that will help them in school in the next few weeks of math. Social Studies: We will continue our unit on European explorers. There will be a test next Thursday over all the explorers. A study guide will come home with next weeks homework packet. |
