Highlights for class this week:
Reading/ELA: We will continue our new chapter book clubs this week in class. In addition, we will be reviewing prefixes and suffixes. Writing: We will continue our narrative unit on fairy tale adaptations. We will also be writing an Earth Day inspired narrative this week. Math: We will be taking some time to go back and review fractions. Students will take the Math Inventory on Monday. Social Studies: We will begin our new unit on Colonial America this week. Science: Heat test will be Friday. Study guide is in homework packet. If your child has a summer birthday and you would like to send in treats, please email me.

GA Milestones is this week on Wednesday, and Thursday. Thanks to everyone who has donated testing snacks. Please make an effort to have students report to class on time those days.
Highlights for class this week: Reading/ELA: We will finish our novel study this week using the book One Well. We have been using the book to focus on main idea and using context clues to figure out the meaning of words. There is no spelling of Wordly Wise this week. Writing: We will start a new narrative unit on fairy tale adaptations. This week we will be looking at different fairy tales and seeing how authors change the classic stories. Math: We will be reviewing everything we have learned in math this week. Some areas of weakness that have been observed include: area, perimeter, and the properties of multiplication (associative, commutative, and distributive). Social Studies: Study for economic test that will be Friday. Study guide is in the homework packet Science: We will begin our new unit on heat. We will get to use our new knowledge to build solar ovens on Friday during outdoor learning day! GA Milestones is this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Writing: Last week students created an informational writing. This week, we will begin a new narrative writing to include dialogue. This writing will be an introduction to our larger narrative writing that we will begin after the Milestones testing. Math: We will be reviewing everything we have learned in math this week. Some areas of weakness that have been observed include: area, perimeter, and the properties of multiplication (associative, commutative, and distributive). Social Studies: Last week we began our class economic unit. We discussed many economics vocabulary and learned what a budget is. We will continue to learn about spending and saving our money. Please see the orange sheet that came home last Friday. |
